How we work

Our sensory programs are highly responsive and led by our participants. They are designed in collaboration with you and are intended to playfully and creatively unlock your curriculum goals. We believe in creating high calibre arts experiences for young people with the most barriers to access. This is why Playfully celebrates all language abilities and communication styles.

What you will see…

We transform classrooms and multipurpose rooms into visually impactful theatrical spaces, where participants can go on engaging imaginative journeys.

We like to playfully manipulate light using projection, interactive lighting, torches and shadow play.

What you Might hear…

We create adaptable sound design that responds to the needs and energy of participants in each session.

Participants might make live music with the artists, using instruments and their voices.

What you Might Feel…

We use tactile materials that are interesting to touch.

Our spaces are made from a mix of durable materials designed to last and others that are fun to manipulate and adapt. We encourage participants to explore the potential of our materials. We acknowledge the joy of ripping paper and throwing it in the air!

What you might do…

Participants can observe or engage in a variety of activities. What these are varies depending on the project. They might include things like dancing, crawling through tunnels, drawing, making things out of paper and tape, playing with bubbles and water or bouncing on a trampoline!

We often love to use large scale puppets that participants can watch or puppeteer themselves!

The puppet to the left was made by Katrina Gaskle of Bonkel Theatre.

What you might Smell…

We sometimes sensitively use scents to add to the participants experiences.
