some things We’ve Done
Playfully works in a variety of contexts and our work varies greatly depending on the needs of each client. Below are just a few of our notable projects.
All Aboard
Briony has a deep interest in sensory theatre making, which she continues to explore with Niddrie Autistic School.
In 2023, herself and fellow artist Zak Pidd collaborated with students on “All Aboard.” This project focused on developing emotional wellbeing through a seafaring adventure. Students donned sailors' hats and embarked on a voyage to undiscovered islands, where they used their imaginations and sensory play to explore how different feelings can be expressed through all the senses.
Blast Off
In 2022, Briony collaborated with fellow artist Zak Pidd and the students from Niddrie Autistic school. This resulted in "Blast Off," an eight-week intergalactic journey through space that explored different emotions through sensory play.
This project was funded by Creative Victoria as part of their “Creative Learning Partnerships” program.
bestival:
An online film Festival for Flemington primary school
For six months of 2021, Briony took part in the Creative Workers in Schools program, delivering on-site and online theatre and film making workshops at Flemington Primary School. These culminated in a school wide online film festival.
Polypropylene Dreams
As a theatre maker, Briony has a passion for making work with and for young audiences.
Across 2020-2021, Briony presented a new work for children and their families with the ArtPlay New Ideas Lab called Polypropylene Dreams. This was a new work co-written and co-designed by herself, Christian Taylor and children through multiple development workshops. It asks audiences how we can look after ourselves whilst also taking care of the planet.
